WHAT EXACTLY IS CBD?
CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a natural chemical compound that comes from the industrial hemp plant. CBD is one of over 113 individual compounds found in hemp. CBD, however, is not a psychotropic cannabinoid like THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). And, CBD does not produce the feelings of intoxication or euphoria normally associated with Marijuana.
CBD ISOLATE VS FULL-SPECTRUM CBD
Full spectrum CBD – or hemp oil – comes with all 113 individual cannabinoids present within the hemp plant. Some of the more common cannabinoids found in hemp are cannabidiol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN), cannabicyclol (CBL), tetrahydrocannabivarian (THCV) and cannabichromevarinic acid (CBCVA). It’s also noteworthy and vital to point out small amounts of THC can be found in hemp. These traces, though, are minuscule at .03%.
In order to facilitate and extract isolate, CBD needs to be extracted from all cannabinoids found inside hemp. This gives you the purest, THC free CBD product. Studies further show the other naturally present cannabinoids in a full-spectrum product can interact and result in additional benefits for the consumer. This interaction is commonly called the “entourage effect.“
